This Life. It’s Wild.
The wonder of life has captured my attention in its unpredictable, ever-changing, multifaceted way.
(call me crazy, but I’ve been attempting to articulate the characteristic of life. Turns out it's quite difficult to explain with reason. Some things are just too wonderful to understand.)
Nevertheless, this one word kept popping into my mind: WILD
Wild is messy, uncontrollable, unrestrained.
Life is wild as it happens; things become a mess and plans fall apart, but somehow something else seems to be falling into place.
(*cue “Saturn” by Sleeping At Last*)
It’s uncivilised; without control, taking us on detours from the intended or expected course; too unpredictable to be under our own control. And yet, still holding a kind of order.
*****
It’s fragile. One moment you have your future set and everything is going according to plan-the next moment you spin a 360 and find things are not as they are anymore; as life happens.
*****
It’s dramatic. Rich with goodness and heaviness. Both sweet and bitter. Lovely and broken. We witness wars between nations, relationships, households. There is heartache all around us.
We live in a broken world.
Yet, there is beauty. Beauty in love, connection, community, friendship, motherhood, laughter, nature, sound, colour, light.
We also live in a lovely world.
I don’t have this life figured out. I don’t think I ever will. But I stand in awe that in this life, both brokenness and beauty co-existence. And beyond our control, this life is coming together for something more beautiful than we could ever imagine// something bigger and better than ourselves.
It’s Wild.
“How rare and beautiful it truly is, that we exist.” (“Saturn” by Sleeping At Last)
